Grose Design...

I’m a designer.

I’ve always been interested in the way purpose and art interact to produce great design.

Design is powerful. It can convey character, help (or hinder) you in getting your message across, and lend your visuals real impact. It was this fascination with design which led me to spend many years honing my creative skills, training first in Art and Design at the Isle of Man College (now UCM) and leaving with a diploma, and then heading to Liverpool Hope University where I graduated with a degree in Design.’

I’ve been working as a graphic designer since 2014, initially full-time within a larger marketing team, where I learnt the value of collaborating with a wider team. In 2016 I opened my own design studio and I’ve been working with businesses across the Island ever since. I really enjoy variety in my work so I love that my client experience ranges from communications providers and engineering specialists to local artisan food suppliers and services. Working with a big corporate entity is very different to working with small local businesses, but they each have their joys, and of course their challenges, which is what makes it so interesting.

I’m a proud local business owner.

The Isle of Man is bursting with creativity and independent businesses, and I thrive on being a part of that community. I’m a strong believer in lifting and supporting one another, sharing ideas, collaborating and being an active part of the local economy. I work from my studio at home in Andreas, but I enjoy getting out and about and meeting other local businesses. If you’re local, say hello!

What’s in a name?

You might think Grose (pronounced just like the word ‘gross’) is a strange pick for a business name but, to me, it’s both ironic and personal. Grose was my maiden name, so a natural choice when I first started working for myself. I decided to stick with it when I got married, not least because it makes me smile – I pride myself on my work and I’d never, ever consider anything I put out into the design world to be gross.
